.[原文連結，來自 CNet] 來，請先跟著癮科技一起大喊三聲「節能省碳，人人有責」。在這個節能時代，能源回收再利用已經成為一門顯學。先前癮科技也曾為各位報導過那個跟這個能夠將廢熱回收再利用的龐然大物，而來自俄亥俄州立大學的研究團隊同樣也做了前面這些大傢伙所做的事，只不過他們只用了一小塊的材料就完成這整件事情。這組研究團隊利用一種新材料：鉈 - 鉛蹄化物，由於它本身具有一種稱之為熱電效應的特性，當一端遇熱時便會迫使電子移動到較冷的另一端，進而產生電流。若是將它用在汽車上頭，便可以將車輛所排放出的廢熱轉換成電力後回收給汽車再利用。更棒的是，根據 Science 期刊上所發表的研究報告指出：「經過實驗証實，這項新材質的轉換效率至少比現今市面上看得到的產品高出兩倍之多」。看起來似乎是相當值得期待商業化的產品，如果它所使用的材料不要剛好都具有劇毒的話那就更好了。
